What is PRP for Face & Hair

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy for the face and hair is a natural regenerative treatment that utilizes the body’s own growth factors to promote collagen production and stimulate hair follicles.

PRP is derived from a small sample of the patient’s blood, which is processed to extract a high concentration of platelets. When injected or applied, PRP accelerates tissue repair, improves skin elasticity, reduces wrinkles, and encourages hair growth.

This treatment is ideal for individuals experiencing hair thinning, fine lines, acne scars, or dull skin, providing a youthful glow and stronger, healthier hair.

Things you should know before the treatment

  1. A consultation is recommended to assess skin and hair condition and determine suitability.

  1. Avoid anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen before the procedure to maximize PRP effectiveness.

  1. Stay hydrated and eat a nutritious meal before your appointment for optimal blood platelet concentration.

  1. Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 48 hours before treatment, as they can affect healing.

  1. If you have active infections, severe hair loss, or a history of keloid scarring, consult a specialist before proceeding.

What happens during the treatment

  1. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient and processed in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma.

  1. The treatment area (face or scalp) is cleansed, and a numbing cream is applied for comfort.

  1. For the face, PRP is either injected into targeted areas or applied after microneedling to enhance absorption.

  1. For hair, PRP is injected into the scalp in areas experiencing hair thinning to strengthen follicles and promote growth.

  1. The session typically lasts 45-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Recovery and results: What to expect

  1. Mild redness, similar to a sunburn, may occur for 24-48 hours after the procedure.

  1. Avoid makeup, excessive sun exposure, and harsh skincare products for at least 48 hours post-treatment.

  1. For hair treatment, avoid washing your hair for 24 hours and refrain from using harsh styling products.

  1. Hydration and applying a gentle moisturizer will help speed up healing and maintain results.

  1. Noticeable improvements in skin texture, glow, and hair growth appear within a few weeks, with continued enhancement over time.

  1. Multiple sessions (typically 3-6) may be recommended for optimal and long-lasting results.
